The Design Process for Women

Be sure and use the printable sketches they are a great tool and the beginning of the creative process.

As a dancer for many years Deirdre knows what is required to deliver a finished gown to a satisfied customer. Her attention to details and determination to provide original creations is of utmost importance. Deirdre has refined the design process, which will include:

A private meeting with the client.
This can occur either at a competition or at Deirdre's place of business.

Style:
Choosing a style is the primary objective of this meeting? The client can choose from an album of gowns and costumes. Deirdre will assist by helping the client determine which style is most flattering by accentuating the client's finest features. Sketches will be drawn until the desired style is achieved.

Choices of fabric and colors:
This is the next step. Lots of swatches are shown so that the most suitable color and fabric can be selected. More sketches are drawn using various color combinations.

Measurements are taken.
Deirdre knows what is required of a gown to make it conform to the body and accent the dancer's body motion. Every garment is hand cut by Deirdre, herself, to insure a custom fit.
Preliminary fitting:
The gown and bodysuit will be tried on in its barest state and tailors marks will be made for a perfect fit. Deirdre prefers to do this personally, however, if that is not possible, it can be done by phone or fax with the assistance of another dressmaker, teacher or fellow dancer.

Completion of the finished product:
Deirdre adds the finishing details and the gown is shipped to the client. In the rare instance that additional alterations are required, they can be made at a competition or returned to Deirdre and reshipped.

Web Orders
1. The idea of this website is for clients to look through the site as an album
2. The website also offers a "sale" section, from which one may purchase gowns and costumes.
3. Fabric and color section will show colors and fabrics.
4. Measure sheet to print and have measurements taken.
5. Deirdre will go through the site with you or you can print the pages that show a sleeve you like on one gown, a back from another costume. Deirdre feels this is her best aid in communicating with her customers so the customer has a tool to show what they like.
6. Deirdre will sketch your design from your conversations
7. Once an order is placed and a commitment is made, a sketch along with fabric swatches will be mailed for your final approval. Deirdre will then begin to create your custom designed gown or costume.
