What goes into the making of a Deirdre of London Ballroom All Deirdre of London dresses are made individually starting with a stretchable body suit then adding luxurious fabrics and adornments. Our quality fabrics are made in London and we only use Austrian made Swarovski rhinestones. Each stone is placed one at a time by hand; making every Deirdre of London creation unique.
Q. What does “For Sale” mean? “For Sale” items are currently available for immediate purchase and ownership with minor alterations for sizing if necessary.
Q. May I have a “For Sale” item altered?
While many “For Sale” items may require very minor alterations for
a proper fit at no additional charge; some ballgowns or dresses
may require more extensive alterations at an additional charge.
Any re-designs to the ballgown or dress will cost more than the
listed price.
Q. What is the difference between an “alteration” and a “re-design”? An alteration is an adjustment to an existing ballgown or dress for a proper fitting. A re-design is a change to the actual design of the gown or dress, i.e.…adding or removing sleeves, drapes, additional accessories etc.
Q. What does “Custom” mean?
You can order a Deirdre of London ballroom gown or dance
dress “Custom-made” to your specifications and needs. Having a custom
made ballgown or dress lets “you be the designer” or speak to Deirdre
personally or one of her representatives and custom design your
ballgown or dress together. Deirdre or one of her representatives
will assist you with the fitting of a custom ballgown or dress.
If you’re not available for a personal fitting you may need to have
someone in your area help you with proper measurements and fittings. Since all custom made ballgowns and dresses are a unique “one of a kind” design we do not “copy” an existing design, but will assist you in re-designing an already existing ballgown or dress that you like. Should I choose to have a custom made gown; what is the design process?
Q. What categories of ballroom gowns or dresses does Deirdre of London carry? 1. “Dresses for Less” are our most economical category. The same ballgowns and dresses are available with the same Deirdre of London quality, but less of the intricate design and stone work. It’s intended for those with a limited or discriminating budget. Excellent for a beginner and showcase event.
2. “Classic” Deirdre of London ballroom gowns and dresses is our mid-level range. They have all the quality for which Deirdre of London is known and more of the stone work and intricate designs that you are looking to wear on the dance floor.
3. “Couture” means that these are our “Top of the line” ballgowns and dresses. They have everything the serious amateur or the discriminating professional wants and needs. Deirdre pulls out all the stops to make her Couture ballgowns and dresses the standard that other dressmakers aspire. Please note that ALL Deirdre of London ballgowns and dresses are made of the highest quality fabrics available from England and Europe. The only difference is the amount of design and stone work involved.
Q. Are all Ballgowns and Dresses listed new? While many Deirdre of London creations have never been worn except by a model for a photograph; sponsored dancers have worn several ballgowns and dresses.
Q. What does “Clearance” mean? Clearance means the ballgown or dress is from a previous year’s collection and has been marked down. Many have never been worn except by a model for a photograph.
Q. What are the sizes available? Because a stretchable body suit is the basis for all dancewear, ballgowns and dresses stretch to fit various sizes. Small/Medium fits women’s sizes 2-8 Medium/Large fit’s women’s sizes 8-14 Other sizes require a custom made ballgown or dress. You can order up to any size gown.

Prices on “Discount” Ballgown sites are much cheaper. The Deirdre of London ballgowns and dresses are each hand-made quality items made with the finest materials from England and Europe. NO two gowns or dresses are the same! We simply cannot be compared to an off-the-rack mass produced inexpensive knockoffs made with cheaper fabrics and fake rhinestones from Asia.
Q. Does Deirdre of London take consignments?
Yes, Deirdre of London will take a ballgown or dance dress
that was made by Deirdre in connection with the sale of another
beautifully designed Deirdre of London creation. We will
also accept a ballgown or dress made by another designer if it is
a quality ballgown or dress equal to the Deirdre of London
standards. All ballgowns or dance dresses accepted for consignment
MUST be in serviceable condition, and not over 2 years old.
Yes, Deirdre of London will accept an “In-stock” item in original condition and packaging with all tags attached within 10 days of delivery or sale date for a prompt refund or exchange less a 10% restocking fee. Any “In-stock” item that has been altered cannot be returned. Refunds on custom/design orders or special orders will not be allowed.
Q. Can we make a custom design from an existing ballgown or dress? Yes,
Deirdre of London can custom design a ballgown or dress from
an already existing design. Please bear in mind that it will not
be exactly the same as NO two Deirdre of London creations
are the same. Also please be aware that the existing dress could
be an older dress and/or marked down. Your new custom made re-design
will be additionally priced in keeping with the work involved.
Q. Can I have a Deirdre of London ballgown or dress shipped to me to try on? Yes, Deirdre of London would be happy to ship a ballgown or dress for you to try on. It will require a $100.00 deposit with credit card details and the FEDEX shipping charge. If you decide to purchase the ballgown or dress then the $100.00 will be applied to the purchase price. If you decide NOT to purchase the ballgown or dress then it must be returned to Deirdre of London within 30 days of receipt or full purchase price of the ballgown or dress will be charged to your credit card. Once the dress is returned within the 30 days in an undamaged and serviceable condition then Deirdre of London will refund $75.00 of the initial deposit.
Q. After I make an order for a custom ballgown and dress when can I expect the completion of Deirdre of London creation? Once
a Deirdre of London custom order has been paid in full your
quality ballgown or dress can be completed in 4 weeks (or a previously
agreed upon date.) Once an order with deposit has been made the
purchaser must complete the order within 6 months (or a previously
agreed upon date) from the date of the initial order, or the deposit
will not be refunded. Q. Can Deirdre of London do sketches before I order a ballgown or dress? Yes, Deirdre or one of her trained representatives will be happy to work with you and sketch your Deirdre of London creation. As sketches and matching swatches take some time there will be a $100.00 fee for 5 sketches. Should you purchase a ballgown or dress from Deirdre of London that fee will be applied to the purchase price.
Q. How can I pay for my Deirdre of London creation?
Prices for all “For Sale” items are set prices. Custom design orders
require 50% of the agreed price at the time of order with the balance
due prior to shipping your completed order. Deirdre of London
accepts cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, and
checks. Deirdre of London will also do payments plans under
special circumstances. |
